This e-book consolidates lessons learned from using several analytical tools in support of the World Bank’s work on fishing communities in selected countries in West Africa. The analytical work was supported by the Regional Partnership for African Fisheries Policy Reform (RAFIP), funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented in conjunction with the World Bank–financed West Africa Regional Fisheries Program (WARFP). The African Union Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) was the key partner in the RAFIP project. Part I introduces the experience from three tools: community-led fisheries management and microfinance, stakeholder network mapping using Net-Map, and Fishery Performance Indicators (FPIs). Part II represents a deep dive into fishing communities in Guinea, presenting analytical work conducted under RAFIP in conjunction with WARFP in Guinea (WARFP-GN).
